Gary Owen
Gary Owen is Managing Director, Chief Information Security Officer within the Technology organization. He is also a member of the company’s Operating Committee. Gary is responsible for leading iCapital’s rapidly expanding needs around information security and protecting our clients’ information.
Previously, Gary was Chief Information Security Officer and Head of Information Security at Wells Fargo and oversaw identity and access management, security engineering, line-of-business engagement, and cyber defense and monitoring.
Prior to joining Wells Fargo in 2019, Gary served as chief information security officer at WarnerMedia (formerly Time Warner) with responsibility for global information security strategy, technology risk management, information protection, and compliance. Under his leadership, his team developed and implemented the company’s information security program.
Before joining WarnerMedia, Gary developed and led the Cybersecurity and Technology Risk Practice at Promontory Financial Group, providing information security and technology risk consulting to clients in multiple industries including financial services, retail, cloud, cable and media, real-estate, and gaming.
He has also held executive roles in information security with Goldman Sachs & Co. as well as Citigroup, where he led global threat management, incident response, and cyber intelligence
Gary is a previous chairman and vice chairman of the Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC), the leading financial services industry source for cyber threat intelligence analysis and distribution. He is active with Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA), Real Estate Cyber Consortium, and the Media Information Security Sharing Forum. Gary also regularly works with U.S. agencies on issues like critical infrastructure protection and information sharing.
Gary received a bachelor’s of science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Vermont, and he is based in New York City.
