Lawrence Calcano

Lawrence Calcano is the Chairman and CEO of iCapital, the world’s alternative investment marketplace. Since 2013, he has led the strategic vision and guidance that has defined iCapital as a leading financial technology provider with the automated platform and industry operating system that simplifies the process of investing in high-quality alternatives, structured investments and annuities for wealth advisers and their high-net-worth clients. It also enables fund managers to reach new sources of capital from the independent wealth channel.

Under Mr. Calcano’s leadership, iCapital now services more than $200 billion in client assets on the platform across more than 1,600 funds and 104,000 underlying accounts. The company employs more than 1,600 people across 17 offices worldwide who are dedicated to products and technology. He has been named the 2024 MMI Industry Leader, 2023 ThinkAdvisors Luminaries and InvestmentNews Hotlist, and appeared on the Forbes Midas List of the most influential people in venture capital in 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, and 2006.

Prior to joining iCapital, Lawrence was a partner and managing director at Goldman, Sachs & Co. for over seventeen years, including serving as the co-head of the Global Technology Banking Group within the Investment Banking Division. His team was responsible for covering companies across all sectors of the technology industry including the internet, digital & e-commerce, software, services & hardware client businesses. He began his career at Morgan Stanley.

Outside of technology, Lawrence’s other passion is mental health & wellbeing, and this has led him to serve as a director of Vibrant Emotional Health (formerly the Mental Health Association of NY) for 10 years. Lawrence received a BA from the College of the Holy Cross and graduated from the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College as a Tuck Scholar.
