NEW YORK iCapital1, the global fintech platform driving the world’s alternative investment marketplace for the wealth management industry, announced today that its Beyond 60/40 initiative has been recognized as the best Thought Leadership / Education initiative at the 2024 MMI/Barron’s Industry Awards. This robust multimedia platform is designed to educate wealth advisors and other financial professionals on the benefits of moving beyond a traditional portfolio structure.

iCapital secured top honors in the Thought Leadership/Education category, which recognizes new programs, research, educational campaigns, or content that meaningfully advance industry knowledge and understanding of key topics for the future of advisory solutions. Blue Owl was also honored in the same category alongside iCapital.

The annual MMI/Barron’s Industry Awards recognize innovation and leadership in the investment advisory solutions industry. Now in their 16th year, the Awards celebrate outstanding achievement and honor firms that have raised the bar by delivering superior solutions for financial advisors and investors over the past year. Winners were announced at the 2024 MMI Annual Conference on October 16.

“Education is a core component of the iCapital mission, and we’re incredibly proud to see our team’s work on Beyond 60/40 recognized by our industry. I’m grateful to our partners who have all contributed to the continued success of our education programs,” said Anastasia Amoroso, Chief Investment Strategist at iCapital. “As advisors increasingly seek knowledge about how private market investments can provide a core component of a diversified portfolio, iCapital will continue meeting them wherever they are with the educational content they need to improve the financial lives of their clients.”

iCapital’s education platforms are designed to serve as a primary source for advisors as they navigate the world of alternative investments. The Beyond 60/40 thought leadership series was launched as a monthly newsletter at the end of 2022 to provide financial advisors with access to private market insights and education in digestible, engaging formats. Due to the success of the newsletter, the initiative was expanded to a video series in mid-2023, hosted by Ms. Amoroso. Each episode brings viewers the latest market news and thought-provoking interviews with industry leaders to help them stay informed about the evolving private markets space.

About the MMI/Barron’s Industry Awards Program

Nominations were reviewed and evaluated by a specially appointed MMI Industry Awards Steering Council. The council consists of representatives from all segments of the MMI membership—asset managers, wealth managers and solutions providers. The Steering Council and MEC reviewed the nominations based on:

  • Level of innovation and forward-thinking
  • Potential to effect noticeable change in the investment advisory industry
  • Advancement of existing investment advisory practices and protocols
  • Potential to deliver improved outcomes for financial advisors and investors

After carefully reviewing the nominations submitted, the Steering Council determined a slate of finalists in each award category. The primary contacts at each of MMI’s members firms were eligible to vote to determine the winners in each category.
