NEW YORK iCapital1, the leading global fintech platform driving access and efficiency in alternative investing for the asset and wealth management industries, announced today it has been included in the annual Forbes Fintech 50 list. This marks the fifth year in a row iCapital has been recognized by Forbes as a top innovator among financial technology firms.

The Forbes Fintech 50 list highlights the year’s most innovative private companies in personal finance, investing, payments, and crypto. iCapital is featured as one of four firms driving the Future of Investing. The 50 ranked companies are chosen from hundreds of nominations through a comprehensive review process by a team of Forbes editors and reporters that entails interviews with investors, industry analysts, entrepreneurs, and executives to evaluate each submission. Criteria include a demonstrated impact on the industry through cost reduction or improvements in efficiency and/or access to financial services. The judges also look for growth outpacing the competitive set over the last year.

As the Forbes editorial team noted, “The explosive popularity of alternative investments has fueled staggering growth for New York City-based iCapital, which returns to Forbes’ Fintech 50 for the fifth-straight year after nabbing $500 million from investors in 2021.”

“Congratulations to the entire team at iCapital for being named to the Forbes Fintech 50 yet again,” said Lawrence Calcano, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of iCapital. “Our team’s passion for technical innovation and commitment to one another motivate us to deliver exceptional solutions for our clients.”

Over the past year, iCapital has made a series of acquisitions and launches to expand its technical capabilities, broaden the menu of investment opportunities offered on its platform, and continue to lead the industry in developing solutions to overcome barriers to efficiency and adoption. Earlier this year, it led the creation of an industry consortium dedicated to developing distributed ledger technology for next-generation alternative processing and digital solutions. In May of this year, iCapital announced that it agreed to acquire SIMON markets, a leading marketplace for structured investments, annuities, and risk-managed solutions.

iCapital’s most recent fundraising round in December 2021 valued the company in excess of $6 billion. It has a deep investor base aligned with iCapital’s industry-standard technology solution for facilitating private wealth channel access to alternative investments, including Affiliated Managers Group, Apollo, BlackRock, Blackstone, BNY Mellon, The Carlyle Group, Citi Ventures, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs Asset Management, Golub Capital, Hamilton Lane, JPMorgan Chase, KKR, Morgan Stanley, MSD Partners, Noah Holdings, Owl Rock, Ping An Voyager Partners, Pivot Investment Partners, Temasek, UBS, Wells Fargo and WestCap.
